Description of supervision approach:
I take a friendly approach to supervision and aim to create a safe supervisory space. Over the years, I have established long-term relationships with supervisees, but have also worked with supervisees on a short-term or ad hoc basis to discuss one-off questions.
My supervision style is non-directive because I hope to facilitate my supervisees to reflect on their own questions and generate their own plan of action. However, I am able to draw on my extensive clinical experience, and up-to date knowledge of resources and evidence, when appropriate.
I am interested in the supervision process and how my growing understanding of theory can shape and enhance the way I practice. I have enjoyed applying creative approaches to supervision following the intandem advanced course and have also found Personal Construct Psychology useful for developing my own supervision style.
Over the years, I have experienced supervision in a variety of formats and can see the benefits of a mixed approach to supervision. At present, I am available to supervise in a 1:1 capacity for post-NQT, all bands of SLT and therapists who are returning to practice. I can also provide group supervision.
